Romi Romi & Miri Miri Maori bodywork
Traditional Maori bodywork for women.
Based in Cheshire. Available in London
After nearly six months and 100 gifted sessions, this part of my training journey is complete. RO:MI is the next chapter. Romi Romi and Miri Miri offered as a professional practice with care and dedication.
What is Romi Romi and Miri Miri
RO:MI is my professional practice offering Romi Romi and Miri Miri – traditional Maori bodywork rooted in the healing traditions of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
THIS IS NOT A MASSAGE.
It is deep, physical work that addresses what the body is holding – physically, emotionally, and sometimes beyond what words can explain.
Sessions are for women only.
I travel to you or see you at a studio space in the Altrincham area.
This is an ancient Maori healing practice, passed down through generations in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
This is deep work, not a surface level treatment.
Both practices work together in every session.
Miri Miri is a gentler, listening, working with tissues, muscles and the body’s natural flow.
Romi Romi is deeper pressure, working with internal systems, organs and the places where the body stores what it has been carrying.
Together they work across all layers – physical, emotional and spiritual.
The breath guides everything. When the breath opens, the body follows.
You do not need to understand it fully before you come. You just need to be open.
Sessions are held fully clothed.
Wow, what an experience! Thank you Dora for making me feel very calm and putting me at ease straightaway. I felt completely relaxed, grounded and lighter afterwards, both physically and mentally. Xx

What to expect in a session
Every session is different.
I want to be honest about that from the start – because every woman who comes carries something different, and the work responds to what is there.
Before we begin, I will ask if there is anything I need to know. You do not need to go into detail. But knowing about injuries, pain, pregnancy, recent surgery, grief or anything significant in your body or life helps me work with more care and awareness.
Then we begin.
You might sit on a chair. You might lie on the table. Sometimes both. I work through your clothing – no oils, no undressing. I use my hands, pressure, and breath as a guide throughout.
Some moments will feel deep.
Some may feel emotional.
Some may feel like nothing at first – and then something shifts hours later, or the next morning.
There is no right way to experience this. Your body decides what it is ready to release.
Sessions last between 45 minutes and one hour. Sometimes a little longer, depending on what the body needs on the day.
Afterwards, I ask every woman to check in with me 24 hours later. How you felt straight after. How you feel the next day. That feedback matters – it helps me learn and it helps you notice what has changed.
Working with the breath
The breath is not a small thing in this work. It is everything.
When the breath is shallow or held, the body holds too. Tension stays where it is. The work cannot move where it needs to go.
When the breath opens – really opens – something changes. The body softens. What has been stored begins to shift. This is where the release happens.
I will remind you to breathe during the session. Not because it is a technique. But because we forget. Especially when something feels deep or unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
Breathe loudly if that is what comes. Breathe slowly if that feels right. There is no wrong way.
Your breath also guides me. It tells me where the body is opening and where it is still holding. In many ways it is a conversation between us – without words.
What to wear
Keep it simple and comfortable.
Soft leggings or loose trousers. A t-shirt or long sleeve top. Layers are helpful as the body temperature can change during the work.
Avoid anything tight, restrictive or with heavy seams and belts. Nothing precious – comfortable is what matters.
You stay fully clothed throughout the entire session. The work happens over fabric. There is no undressing, no oils, no spa setup.
Just come as you are.
Introducing my teacher, Atarangi Muru
Meet my teacher
I trained under Atarangi Muru, founder of Maori Healers and one of the most respected teachers of traditional Maori bodywork in the world.
Atarangi has been sharing the healing traditions of Romi Romi and Miri Miri for many years, training practitioners across New Zealand, Europe and beyond through her immersive course Te Rongopae.
Her teaching is rooted in deep respect for Maori tradition, whakapapa and the sacred nature of this work.
My path to this work began almost 16 years ago, through a teacher who opened my eyes to natural healing, food as medicine and meditation. It was through him that I first met Atarangi Muru and Manu Korewha (founders of Maori Healers).
I was fortunate enough to be part of their world tour when they came to London and later Manchester. They welcomed me into their world – I watched them work, absorbed their dedication, their knowledge, their warmth. I did not know then that I was already beginning.
Since that first meeting, Atarangi has been part of my learning.
I attended Te Rongopae for the first time three years ago in 2023. Something shifted then, even before I knew I was preparing for this. I returned in November 2025 and completed my training on the ground in Aotearoa.
Everything I carry into a session comes from her teaching. The way I hold the space, the way I work with breath, the way I approach each woman who comes – all of it traces back to what I learned under her guidance.
I am deeply grateful.

Thank you for the wonderful session, your time and the immense calmness you radiate during the session. I wish you all the best.

A little bit about me
Hi, I’m Dora.
I was born in Budapest and moved to London when I was 21. I have been here ever since – though I have spent a lot of time travelling, learning, and following the threads of what feels real.
I have always been drawn to practical healing. Food as medicine, meditation, natural health – always through experience rather than theory, and always staying close to the ground.
Alongside this, I have built a career in branding and design. My background in economy, sciences, business and art led me to help people and businesses show up in a way that truly reflects who they are. That work continues through my design studio, ADORA Design Studio.
In November 2025, I returned from my second trip to Aotearoa, New Zealand, where I completed my training in Romi Romi and Miri Miri under the guidance of Atarangi Muru of Maori Healers. This time it felt clear – I wanted to complete the work and offer it to others.
Since then I have worked with nearly 100 women across Cheshire, Manchester and London. Each session has taught me something I could not have learned any other way.
I am quite reserved by nature. I love people but I do not push. I trust that the women who are meant to come will find their way here.
If you do – thank you. For your trust. For showing up. It means the world to me.
Truly amazing experience. Thankyou Dora for your compassion and care. I cannot wait to see you again soon 🙏💫🩷

FAQ
Is this a massage?
No. Romi Romi and Miri Miri are traditional Maori healing practices. The work is physical but it goes beyond what massage does. It addresses what the body is holding – physically, emotionally, and sometimes things that are harder to name. You stay fully clothed throughout.
What is the difference between Romi Romi and Miri Miri?
Both practices work together in every session. Miri Miri is gentler, listening, working with tissues, muscles and the body’s natural flow. Romi Romi is deeper pressure, working with internal systems and the places where the body stores what it has been carrying. They are not separate. They are woven together.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose clothing. Soft leggings, loose trousers, a t-shirt or long sleeve top. Avoid anything tight or restrictive. You stay fully clothed throughout.
Can I come if I am pregnant?
Yes. Please let me know before your session so I can adjust the work accordingly.
Can any age come?
Yes. I have worked with women across a wide range of ages. If you have any health considerations please mention them when you book.
Are you still only working with women?
Yes. RO:MI is currently for women only.
How long is a session?
Sessions are between 45 minutes and one hour. Sometimes a little longer, depending on what the body needs on the day.
Where are you based and how far do you travel?
I am based in Bramhall, Cheshire. I travel up to 45 minutes for home visits – covering Cheshire, South Manchester and surrounding areas. Studio sessions are in the Altrincham area. I am also occasionally available in London.
How often should I book?
Listen to your body. You will know when you need a reset, a release, or to come back to yourself. This is not something I can prescribe – you already have the answer. Just make sure you give yourself time to recover and let the work settle before booking again.
Why do I feel tired after a session?
A lot has shifted. Your body is adjusting to a new found spaciousness – physically and emotionally. Trust it. Rest. Drink water. As my teacher Atarangi says – take the rest while you can.
